If you're a lover of music, food (especially pizza!) architecture and sports history, Chicago just might be the perfect place for you to go. Whether you can road trip it or need to book a quick flight, there's many reasons you should head to the windy city. Food Chicago is known the world over for their signature deep-dish pizza, named after the city, just as much as the Chicago Style hot dog - a spin on the frank that includes a poppyseed bun and all the extras you can think of. Not only that ,the city has a wide array of food options from around the world, a nod to it's multicultural makeup. From traditional Southern American soul food, to Italian, French, Chinese, Thai & more options, it's quite possible to find exactly what you're looking for in Chicago Architecture Chicago's architecture is an interesting mix of post-war buildings and heavy Art Deco influences. A true metropolitan centre, it's impossibly tall skyscrapers will definitely leave you in awe if you're into that sort of thing. Form the Wrigley building to the Willis Tower, you can walk to see the sights or take a boat tour to see the skyline from the Chicago river. Don't forget to stop by Millennium Park and visit the centrepiece structure Cloud Gate, more affectionately known as The Bean. Music Scene No matter what you're into, with over 200 live music venues in the city you'll be sure to find something you'll love. As the birthplace of house music, the music's culture runs deep right alongside the many jazz clubs the city is also known for. Some of the world's biggest stars in the worlds or rock, rap, indie & more call Chicago home; so be sure to take advantage of the city's musical roots. Sports & Sports History With team fans as loyal as they are proud, Chicago is a city that's big on sports. No matter what you're into, it will be easy to get some team spirit with not one, but two major league baseball teams the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Bulls, Bears of Blackhawks. Between the 10-year anniversary of the White Sox's World Series win and the city's long-running legacy of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls , it's no wonder why fans in the city are so passionate. There's actually a museum dedicated exclusively to the city's sport teams' greatest achievements. Museums & Art Galleries From the Art Institutes of Chicago (home to some 300,000 pieces) to the Adler Planetarium, and Shedd Aquarium there's plenty of opportunities to see and learn about the city and the world when you're in Chicago. Head to the Museum of Science and Industry to see one of the biggest science centres in the world or see a variety of art installations at the Chicago Cultural Center. If natural & ancient history are more your speed, try the Field Museum where you can visit extraordinarily preserved Mummies from ancient Egypt as well as the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever discovered (her name is Sue, by the way!) No matter how you get there or how long you stay, be sure to include Chicago on your travel bucket list. Happy Travels!
