While everyone's idea of romance is a little different, there are a few things that are pretty consistent across the board to set the mood. A good thing to keep in mind with some of these destinations, particularly the Caribbean, will be more expensive in the days leading up to Valentine's Day because of how popular it is for couples to head there. So, if you're looking to book a trip that's more adventure than romance - try to wait until after the 14th has passed to make your plans. For travellers trying to make the most of Valentine's Day, a honeymoon and more, here's list of some of the most romantic destinations in the world.
With picturesque scenery and visitors from all over the globe, it's not wonder that Bali makes the list. Its beautiful beaches and clear waters make it a popular tropical destination with gorgeous sunset views and waterfront resorts everywhere. You can even avoid some of the crowds by heading to the quieter Echo Beach in Seminyak. For a more cultural experience, you can visit the iconic Tanah Lot, a 15th century temple that sits atop a small rock formation in the ocean, or watch the cascading falls of the numerous waterfalls around Bali.
Often referred to as the city of love, Paris has always been one of the most popular destinations for romance. Also called the City of Light, nighttime strolls along the city's dimly lit cobblestone streets automatically conjure up images of romance, and the streets are lined with many cozy bistros for you to slip into. Whether you search for views of the iconic Eiffel Tower from a luxurious room at the Shangri-La Hotel or climb the steps of the Sacré-Coeur for city views and sunsets, they're both ideal for setting the perfect mood.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Vibrant nightlife and diverse culture are just a few ways you could describe Buenos Aires. It's not surprise that the birthplace of the Tango is also one of the most romantic places in the world to visit. Plenty of theatres around the city have a Victorian feel, giving you a change to enjoy baroque details with plush velvet seating and interiors while you enjoy the opera or ballet. Take a stroll to the famous Palmero neighbourhood for the best restaurants in the city featuring traditional Argentinian food as well as Italian food - as there are significant populations of Argentinians of Italian descent.
Beautiful beaches meet lush tropical forests in Kerala, which is also home to some of the world's best Ayurvedic spas. Derived from ancient natural treatments, these spas offer everything from restorative hair and skin treatments to oil and deep tissue massages. For a more private getaway, head to Northern Kerala where tourism is much less popular. From here, you'll get some of the best views of the sea, rolling hills, waterfalls and vibrant wildlife
With lush greenery and beautiful beach view, Pemba's location off the east coast of Africa means it has warm weather to spare - as well as rich culture and amazing food alongside great seafront resorts and honeymoon suites. Zanzibar is the perfect combination of luxury, romance and adventure, with the February being one of the best times to visit the island due to it's warmer weather free of the frequent rain and high humidity or March - May.
